La señologia o la señotica es la ciencia que estudia los signos y las leyes que los gobiernan, esta palabra proviene del griego SEMEION que significa signo y de logos que significa estudio.
Roland Barthes: Critico literario y sociologo estructuralista frances(1915-1980),es inspirado por Bloomfield.
Es la ciencia que estudia la vida de los signos en el seno de la vida social.El tema y su definicion son atribuidos al linguista Ferdinand Savsure el cual consideraba la linguistica como una parte de esta ciencia general. Ferdinand dijo en el siglo 1916 que la lengua es un sistema de signos y por eso la linguistica es solo una parte de una ciencuia mas general llamadoa semiologia, por lotanto roland barther en 1960 comienza el auge de la imagen pero para el sera un signo de escritura.
Existen dos grandes escuelas:
- Charles Pierce: Afirma que todo tipo de relación mediada por signos es ilimitada, unos signos remiten a otros, tambien describe tres elementos básicos de la semiotica que son: signos, Objeto y el intérprete.
Signo o significante: Es la palabra
Objeto: Aquel que se refiere al signo
Interprete: El signo que se refiere a otro signo
Pierce establece muchas clasificaciones de signos:
Simbolo, Indice, Icono.
Simbolo: Es el tipo de signo que sustituye por convención social al onjeto designado. el símbolo es el signo pleno
Indice: toipo de signo que se refiere a un objeto sin afirmar o negar nada sobre el mismo, un signo que meramente indica. No0 designa nada del objeto.
Icono: Signo que se refiere a su objeto en funcion de su semejanza.
Roland Barthes: Dice que en cualquier mensaje fotografico existen dos tipos de codigos:
Codigo verbal: todo tipo de imagen contiene diferentes sentido y necesita concretar su significado mediante un mensaje verbal.
Icónico: dos tipos de mensajes:
Denotado: Proviene de la propia materia fotográfica, de lo que la foto tiene de sistema en si mismo
Connotado: Es la significacion que pretende construir la imagen
